Insurance Claims

Metro City Roofing understands the insurance claims process and works with all the major carriers.

Our goal is to simplify the claims process for you, offering a full explanation of any damages and possible code-related requirements. Our staff are state-licensed independent adjusters, which means we evaluate a property the same way as does an insurance adjuster.

We provide complete documentation of our inspection process including photos and a written damage estimate and act as a full service claims and construction management company when a covered peril requires a claim.

The following are important steps in the insurance claims process. Contact us today and one of our specialists will be happy to discuss the process in more details.

1 – Get a roof inspection from a reputable, local roofing company

Many homeowners call their insurance company first, however, your roof may not have damage and your claim still counts against you. It’s best to start with a free, no-obligation roof inspection and a detailed inspection report.

2 – File a claim with your insurance carrier if you have damage

After verifying your property has substantial storm-related damage, you can file a claim on your homeowner’s policy with confidence. Your insurance company will likely ask you if your roof has already been inspected and if you have selected a contractor. Keep in mind, you can work with any roofing company you choose.

3 – Once your claim is filed, an adjuster will be assigned to your claim

An insurance adjuster is required to contact you to schedule an inspection. It is best to have the insurance adjuster and your roofer inspect your roof together. The insurance adjuster is a representative of the insurance company and will naturally tend to have the insurance company’s best interest in mind. It is important to have your own representation present during the adjustment process and represent you with your best interest in mind. When they inspect the roof together, they are more likely to be aligned about what will be covered by insurance and you will be able to get your project started more quickly.

4 – Schedule your roof replacement with your selected roofing company

With Metro City Roofing, you will have a single point of contact throughout the duration of your project. A typical residential roof replacement will take 1-2 days from start to finish. You are not required to be home when the work is being done. A typical commercial roof replacement will take 1-2 weeks.

You should expect to receive your insurance paperwork within 7-10 days (although some insurance carriers will provide an initial estimate immediately following the inspection). It is very important to provide a copy of this paperwork to your contractor to get your work started as quickly as possible. With any insurance claim, there are often items that were missed or unforeseen at the time of the adjustment, or omitted until the work is completed such as code required upgrades. A trained contractor will satisfactorily handle all supplements and negations on your behalf.

5 – Your deductible should be your only out-of-pocket expense

Every storm related insurance claim is paid out in at least two payments. It is not uncommon, however, to receive more than two payments. Additional payments are paid out as supplements and are usually paid after the scope of work is complete. Your insurance company will pay you directly and, once you roof work is completed, you will pay your roofing contractor directly. Metro City Roofing does not require any payments to be made until your materials have been delivered to your home.
