Denver Staff Favorite Restaurants
April 30, 2020
As a top roofing contractor in Denver, Colorado, the staff at Metro City Roofing spends quite a lot of time in the Denver community and across the Front Range. Depending on the time of an appointment, we may stop into a coffee shop or restaurant for breakfast, lunch, coffee, or sometimes a sweet treat.
We thought it would be fun to share some of our staff favorite restaurants with you.
The COVID-19 coronavirus will have a long-lasting impact to communities around the world that we’ve yet to fully understand. As you view the list below, please be aware that many will be grappling with how to survive, paying employees and other fixed costs such as rent. Please support your local community and purchase a gift card, take-out or delivery (if possible).
To capture and share our favorite restaurants with each other and friends, we found the Jiffi iOS app. Jiffi is a mobile iOS app that enables users to create and share curated dining bookmarks with ratings, tags, and notes. Feel free to download and try it yourself.
Here’s 10 of our favorites. We have plenty more in Denver and across the Front Range (but we had to start somewhere). We intend to share more with future blog posts.

Neighborhood: Lower Highlands
Address: 3400 Navajo St, Denver, CO 80211
Our comments: Very casual Highlands restaurant with great beerlist serving some special entrees such as the Bombshell reuben sandwich with housemade tater tots. Do not underestimate the amazingness of the tater tots. The pork rinds are the perfect appetizer when you’re not on a diet. Seriously, this is not diet food, it’s just surprisingly amazing food at a bar. Apparently, this restaurant was the first bar opened by the Coors family to serve beer outside of its brewing and bottling facility.
Description: Colorful counter-serve spot crafting hearty grilled Mexican sandwiches of marinated meat & veggies.
Address: 5307 Leetsdale Drive, Denver, CO 80246
Our comments: Hands-down the best sandwich shop in Denver. It’s a no-frills, hole in the wall serving the best Mexican sandwiches, called tortas. The staff favorite is the Norteña, with Steak, Milanesa, & Mexican Cheese. The restaurant plays enjoyable Mexican music and serves delicious horchata, a traditional Mexican drink made up of white rice soaked in water, it’s flavored with cinnamon and its sweetened with granulated sugar.
Little Man Ice Cream
Description: Milk-jug shaped shop scooping unique flavors of homemade ice cream & open until midnight.
Neighborhood: Lower Highlands

Our comments: Among the best ice cream shops in Denver with a rotating menu of flavors. Staff favorites include Salted Oreo, Salted Caramel, and Mexican Chocolate. Perfect for an on-the-go treat between roofing inspections. Expect long lines during a warm summer evening or weekend day. And where else can you get an ice cream in a large milk-shaped jug?
Description: Counter-serve pizza joint for creative pies & slices in a brick-walled space with outdoor tables.
Address: 1433 17th Street, Suite 100, Denver, CO 80202

Description: Casual joint supplying traditional English pastries filled with meat & veggies, plus ice cream.
Address: 4166 Tennyson St, Denver, CO 80212
Our comments: Pasties are traditional English baked pastries, typically filled with meat and vegetables. The origins of the pasty are unclear, though it is referenced to Cornwall, England miners and sailors. there are many references to them throughout historical documents and fiction. Pasties also resemble turnovers from many other cuisines and cultures, including the empanada and pierogi. At Pasty Republic, pasties are available to eat in store or takeaway, plus are available frozen to bring home. Staff favorites include the Joey (meatballs, mozzarella, and marinara), the Caretaker (chicken, peas, carrots, celery, garlic, cheddar) and the Shepherd (ground beef, peas, mashed potatoes, carrots, onions, cheddar).
