Key Code Items

  • All areas in the City of Louisville are considered high wind areas and based on the Colorado Front Range Gust Map dated February 28, 2006.
  • Shingles must be high wind rated and have at least 6 nails per shingle.
  • A maximum of 2 layers of any roof covering is allowed.
  • Ice Barrier (aka Ice and Water Barrier) is required on all shingled roofs (eaves only).
  • Drip edge will be required on all roof edges, rakes as well as on eaves.

Inspections

  • Ladders must be on-site and secure for only mid-roof inspections.
  • You must have your installation instructions (manufactured specifications) on-site for your inspections.
  • All permits require a mid-roof (10-50%) and building final inspections.
  • Someone must be on-site for the mid-roof inspection, but it is not required for someone to be on-site for the building final.
  • During the mid-roof / building final inspection, the inspector will sign off on the inspection card when the inspection has been approved, so it must be made accessible for them on site.
  • You will receive an inspection worksheet via email, letting you know if you passed or failed your inspections.
